This video was created with the intention of bringing valuable information to as many people as possible. What we share in this video is necessary for a more profound understanding of essential oils. However, this kind of first-hand expertise is hard to find.
So I asked Benoit Roger to share his wisdom with us, and he agreed to make this video available free of charge to all of you. He agrees that this kind of information is missing in our community and is happy to embark on this journey with me. So please, do your part and share this link to help share this marvelous lecture with the community. Thank you.
Too many aromatherapists don’t employ the full benefits of essential oil chemistry because they get intimidated by all the terminology and numbers that come with it. They feel that it is too complicated and not worth the effort. That is not true. It is well worth the effort and less difficult than it looks at first glance.
Also, many aromatherapists start their journey from the middle up. Going straight into blending. Lacking the knowledge of what their oils are actually made up of. Not even trying to understand the fundamental reason behind their essential oils ‘superpowers’.
To be able to appreciate these ‘superpowers’ and use them to their full potential (for your or your clients’ benefits), we need to start from the ground up. So today, we will discuss essential oil GC reports plus all the secrets and steps to creating a GC analysis. And who better to ask than Benoit Roger. Why?
Benoit is a plant enthusiast. He is working between research, analysis and production/transformation of essential oil and plant extracts for more than fifteen years. He got his Ph. D. in chemistry (phytochemistry and analytical chemistry) in France between the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, historically close to the Grasses industry, and a renowned company in the south of France.
Next, he arrived to Canada for a post-doc and stayed to work with the team of Laboratoire Phytochemia where he worked (among other things) on essential oil GC analysis. As Benoit is also a practical man, parallel to working at Phytochemia, he started a sister company called Alchemia Solutions.
At Alchemia Solutions, he develops small stainless stills, offers consulting services and regularly proposes classes and workshops around distillation, plant chemistry, and analysis. That is precisely why I chose Benoit to explain many questions we come across. Because he has the experience in theory, practice, plus innovation, he is brilliant!
Benoit Roger, is also one of the instructors at the Essence of Thyme College of Holistic Studies. We would like to thank them for allowing us to share some of the same content Benoit uses for their course. Of course, we share it with an authentic twist to it, but their generous gesture made this video much easier for us to produce and share with everyone. Thank you, Colleen Thompson & Dr. Kelly Ablard.
