Hi everyone, Melani from Dropsmart here! I recently had the joy of chatting with my good friend and colleague, Gergely Hollódi. Gergely, hailing from the lovely city of Budapest has been a familiar face in my aromatherapy journey for over a decade now. He’s the brain behind a super exciting project that’s got the aromatherapy community buzzing with anticipation!
Gergely’s story is quite an adventure. Starting in the fast-paced world of advertising and production, he made a life-changing shift to aromatherapy in 2007 after moving to the U.S. with his family. This switch was fueled by his love for scents, herbs, and all things creative. He dived into learning at the East-West School for Herbal and Aromatic Studies and even added massage therapy to his skillset in Seattle.
After moving back to Hungary in 2009, Gergely didn’t waste any time sharing his passion. He began teaching aromatherapy, selling essential oils and even launched “Aromatica,” Hungary’s very own aromatherapy magazine. But that’s not all – he was instrumental in founding the Association of Hungarian Aromatherapists in 2006 and pulled off the amazing Budapest Drops aromatherapy conferences, gathering experts from around the globe.
The highlight of our chat? Definitely his latest endeavor, the “Aromatic Hologram Project.” This project is all about celebrating the modern-day pioneers of aromatherapy. Imagine over 43 aromatherapists from across the world sharing their stories, challenges, triumphs, and even their perspectives on how aromatherapy has evolved, especially during the COVID times.
Gergely shared some fascinating insights on how aromatherapy has grown and transformed over the years, adapting to different countries’ regulations, the emergence of MLM companies, and the leaps in technology. He’s a firm believer in the power of education in aromatherapy – both for pros and enthusiasts alike.
